Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System Review

The Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System promises to provide a better way of adding volume, thickness and length to your eyelashes without glue, complicated application techniques and expensive salon assistance.

Too Faced’s brand of beauty products strives to achieve trendy results and glamorous style without the expense and hassle of going to a salon.

Unleash Your Inner Diva Without Help

The Too Faced eyelash extension system works as easily as applying mascara. Apply the base coat, and continue with the nylon-fiber applicator to build eyelashes as thick or as long as you want.

After you get the eyelashes to look the way you prefer, you seal them again with more of the base coat. I tried the product with high expectations because I trust the brand, and applying it was just as easy as claimed. However, there were some problems:

• I don’t understand why the company doesn’t use black fibers instead of white.
• I wear contacts occasionally, and using the product with contacts causes a lot of application issues.
• If you’re not careful, you get fibers in the eye. Of course, getting cosmetics in the eye is always a possibility when using beauty products.
• Sometimes, bottom lashes stick to upper lashes.
• My eyelashes didn’t look natural but looked like expertly applied false lashes.

The good news is that friends complimented by eyelashes and asked whether I was wearing false lashes or extensions.

Reviews of the Company and Product

I checked review sites, Pinterest and the product’s ingredients online before buying the affordable system, a steal at around $40 when compared to extensions and other eyelash products.

Reviews appear mixed and conflicting, which always seems to be the case when discussing beauty products that generate subjective feelings. Some users complained about trying to apply the product when wearing contact lenses, and some found fault with the white nylon fibers. Of course, the white color disappears after applying the sealing coat and mascara.

Forewarned about possible problems when wearing contact lenses, I thought I could avoid and difficulties. Unfortunately, because I got fibers under my lenses. I seldom use the product when wearing contacts. It’s just not worth the trouble of removing my lenses to locate errant Flexistretch fibers and cleaning or sterilizing my lenses.

The Too Faced company enjoys an enviable reputation in the cosmetics industry, and its founders became business partners and eventual spouses in a truly moving success story.

Company Creative Director Jerrod Blandino became frustrated because of the limited textures and shades in the beauty products he sold when working at a makeup counter. Wanting more fun choices, Blandino started his own company in 1998 with Jeremy Johnson to handle the business side of things.

The company grew by introducing cutting-edge products in beautiful colors. Known for amazing primers, Too Faced has created another unique product with the Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System. The product’s nylon fibers are held in place by the primer base coat and builds eyelashes organically.

Ingredients List and Side Effects

The ingredients in the top coat include many of the same chemicals found in other brands of mascara and beauty products. The usual precautions apply: Avoid getting the primer coating or nylon fibers in your eyes or on your skin.

If you’re sensitive to chemicals, you may experience a reaction from the product’s preservative paraben compounds. Other ingredients include:

• Phenoxyethanol, which is used in many cosmetic products, is a preservative chemical compound that might irritate some people’s skin or trigger allergic reactions, but it is generally considered safer than parabens. [1]
• The nylon fibers are generally inert and safe unless they cause physical irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes. People have used nylon brushes for decades without side effects or chemical interactions.
• Acrylates copolymer is a common chemical used as a stabilizer, fixative and waterproofing and suspending agent. [2]
• Dimethicone topical moisturizes skin and smooths away any irritation that the preservatives used in the product might cause. [3]
• Triethanolamine salicylate provides nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory protection and helps to restore pH balance to the skin should any of the base coat come into contact with tissue. [4]

The only real dangers in any of the ingredients come from careless application, getting nylon fibers in the eye or allergic reactions. I would avoid anything but natural products if I were highly susceptible to allergies or had bad skin reactions to cosmetics.

I don’t have great eyelashes, so I need a little help. I’m a big fan of breaking the rules, so the idea of applying extensions as easily as mascara appeals to me. Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson are well-known in the cosmetic industry and have worked for high-profile divas like Cher, Madonna and Drew Barrymore.

I believe that you can cautiously trust products from their company, Too Faced. People with sensitive eyes and those who wear contacts might have problems with these eyelash extensions.

Of course, all eye enhancements pose some risks when not used properly because being beautiful is hard work. The Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System just makes things a little easier.
